Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said the club need to support Alex Iwobi after the 20-year-old’s own goal against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Gunners were leading 2-1 until the Nigerian headed the ball past David Ospina and into his own goal with 13 minutes left on the clock.
But the Frenchman has said his side need to support the youngster to make sure he bounces back from this set back.
“It can happen. The frustrating thing is Ospina was behind him. He’s certainly the most disappointed,” said Wenger in a post-match conference.
“That’s part of the game. We have to take that on the chin and support him.”
Iwobi was substituted soon after the own goal for holding midfielder Granit Xhaka, as Arsenal looked to keep hold of their point at the Emirates stadium.
The result means it is very unlikely they will top Group A, as they now rely on Ludogorets to get a result against PSG at the Parc des Princes.
The Gunners also have to ensure they go to Switzerland and comfortably beat FC Basel to do their part.
If they finish in second place, where they are currently positioned, they will be drawn against a team who finished top of their group.
As it stands, Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could be possible opponents for Wenger’s men in the round of 16.
