West Ham’s Iheanacho deal hinges on ‘£30m buy-back clause’

West Ham United are reportedly ‘hopeful’ of signing Kelechi Iheanacho, but Manchester City want a buy-back clause in his contract.

Iheanacho endured a disappointing season under new City manager Pep Guardiola, with Gabriel Jesus jumping ahead of him in the pecking order.

As such, the Nigeria international has been widely linked with a summer transfer, as West Ham aim to solve their striking woes.

According to the Daily Mail, the Citizens are prepared to sell the 20-year-old for £20 million – but only if they have an option to re-sign him.

City want that trigger to be around £30 million, the source suggests, though the Irons are keen for it to be over £40 million.

The report claims that Guardiola is keen to avoid the situation Chelsea are currently facing with Romelu Lukaku, having watched him flourish at Everton. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata would be an example of a successful insertion.
