Willian reveals effective Antonio Conte team talk against Hull

Chelsea midfielder Willian has revealed that an effective half-time team talk on Saturday against Hull City is what spurred them onto victory.

Willian opened the scoring at the KCOM Stadium yesterday before Diego Costa wrapped up a 2-0 victory against Mike Phelan’s side, ending a run of two three league games without a win.

The Brazilian midfielder was the club’s shining light in a difficult season last year but has, so far, failed to live up to the hype and struggled in Antonio Conte’s new system.

However, he managed to become a matchwinner for the Blues yesterday but has revealed that it was Conte’s effective team talk that spurred them onto victory.

“We did a good job,” he said, via the Daily Star. “In the first half we played well but didn’t score a goal.

“In the second half we were more concentrated on our final pass and we scored two goals, so congratulations to everyone and now we must keep going.

“At half-time the manager told us to continue to press high up the pitch and we did it well.”

Chelsea have created 92 chances in the Premier League so far this season which is the second most behind Liverpool, who have created 111.

Willian, who finished last season as Chelsea’s best chance creator, is currently top of the same chart with 23 this season – 10 more than anyone else at the club.
