Willian has revealed that Jose Mourinho was interested in signing him for Manchester United last summer.
The 28-year-old was Mourinho’s standout star in the Portuguese’s turbulent final campaign at Stamford Bridge and ended up winning Chelsea’s Player of the Year award last season.
The Brazil international was rewarded for his fine form with a new contract which keeps him at Chelsea until 2020.
But that didn’t stop the United manager from attempting to lure one of his former players to Old Trafford.
When asked if he had received an offer to leave Chelsea last summer, Willian told Globo Esporte: ‘Concrete I do not know. But there was interest, yes.
‘From Manchester United, because Mourinho is there too.
‘From other clubs I do not know, but there are always some things on the internet.
‘But I’m glad to hear that there are clubs that admire my work.’
