Wright: Iwobi was the difference for Arsenal against Chelsea

Alex Iwobi was the difference for Arsenal against Chelsea on Saturday, according to club legend Ian Wright.

The 20-year-old starred in the Gunners’ comfortable win over London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon and he played a key role in Theo Walcott’s goal which made it 2-0 after just 14 minutes.

Former Blues striker Gianfranco Zola hailed the Nigerian international after the game and Wright has followed suit by heaping even further praise on the attacking midfielder.

Speaking on BT Sport, Wright said: “We need something different, as much as Chelsea were looking them and they know what Arsenal do, they know what Santi [Cazorla] does, they know what [Francis] Coquelin does.

“He was the difference and in the end they took him off and he got a standing ovation and rightly so.”

No Arsenal player has provided more assists than Iwobi so far this season in the Premier League and he appears to have won the battle with Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain to start in one of the wide berths in the side.

Iwobi has shown his talent of beating players with a 75% take-on success rate and has also proven he is very good in possession by recording an average pass accuracy of 84% in four league appearances.
