The 10 out-of-contract Liverpool players have now left Anfield as life under Arne Slot begins, with Thiago among the most notable departures.
The Reds had already indicated that a group of players, all of whom had contracts expiring at the end of June, would not be returning to Anfield and would be looking for new opportunities. Slot has lately started work and is currently reviewing the team he took over from Jurgen Klopp.

Thiago, who joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2020, has been allowed to depart due to an injury-plagued season. Much was anticipated of the Spaniard, who produced in bursts but never consistently met expectations. Reported By Mirror.
Joel Matip is the other notable figure who has been permitted to depart. The Cameroonian started in the Champions League final victory in 2019 and was one of the players that paired Virgil van Dijk in the center of defence. He, like Thiago, suffered from consistent injuries.
Klopp had expressed hope that Liverpool will offer Matip a new contract after his years of service, but that has not happened. “I’m pretty sure the club will show their class, just as they should,” he told me. “I’m very sure they’ve already told Joel that no matter what happens, as long as he’s hurt, everything is great, and now we have to decide how to proceed with Joel.
“That is a normal thing to do, but he deserves our full support, and he will receive it. I would say yes [that he deserves a new contract], but it is not my decision. I can’t sign the paperwork.”
