Former Wimbledon striker, John Fashanu has warned the Super Eagles to be clinical in front of goal against Cape Verde in today’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Fashanu stated this in an interview with PUNCH Sports Extra, where he said that Nigeria must do everything to avoid any defeat against Cape Verde.
Recall that the Super Eagles are top of group C on 12 points while Cape Verde sit second on 10 points.
He said, “The Eagles have to be ruthless against their opponents in Lagos. They have the fans behind them which should give them an advantage over the visitors.
“Also, having Ighalo back in the team is not a bad idea because it will boost the confidence of the players which is great.

“When you are playing at home you have an advantage and the Eagles must not mess it up. There is no way Nigeria should lose this match or even draw. These are the kind of matches that we have to firmly and confidently win and show everybody that we are the best in Africa.
“This is the time to show everyone that we remain a strong side because it hurts when we lose here at home against minnows. So, the Eagles have to show the firepower and the desire to win.”
