In the early hours of Friday morning, a 26-year-old man was shot and killed during Napoli title celebrations in Naples’ Piazza Volturno, close to Piazza Carlo III.
The victim, identified by La Repubblica as Vincenzo Costanzo of the Ponticelli neighborhood, was involved in a shooting alongside his girlfriend and three other people.

After being transported in critical condition to the city’s Cardarelli hospital, Costanzo later passed away from his wounds. The incident, according to Naples’ prefect Claudio Palomba, “was completely unrelated to the Napoli victory celebrations.”
The victim, according to reports, had no prior criminal record, but was related to the D’Amico family, which had been battling the De Miccos for years to rule the Ponticelli territory.

Given the number of rounds that were fired, reports suggest that Costanzo may have been the target of an ambush. The second suggested reason is that there may have been an argument in the street, which escalated in tragic fashion.
Two men, aged 20 and 24, and a woman, 26, who were also shot during the incident are all expected to fully recover from their wounds.
