Arsenal manager has revealed that he toyed with the idea of not playing Olivier Giroud in Monday night’s FA Cup replay at Hull City after the striker welcomed his second child just a few hours earlier.
The manager went with his guts and started Giroud who went on to score twice as Arsenal came away with an emphatic 4-0 victory to go through to the next round.
‘I was tempted with that [not play him],’ the manager added. ‘You make a decision and hope it’s the right one. He always wants to play.
‘Giroud had been a while without a goal. He became a father last night and it certainly gave him a little euphoria.’
Arsenal will now play fellow Premier League side Watford in the last eight of the competition at the Emirate Stadium.
