Former Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit believes N’Golo Kante is freeing Eden Hazard, allowing him to focus on his attacking duties.
Chelsea fans have seen a better Hazard this season compared to the one last campaign who struggled. However, this term the 25-year-old has started the season like a house on fire, scoring two goals in his opening three Premier League games.
And Gullit believes new signing Kante has allowed Hazard to thrive with his attacking duties.
“Kante is like [former Chelsea midfielder] Claude Makelele. He’s always there when you need him,” Gullit said on BBC Sport.
“Hazard doesn’t need to track back anymore.”
During the 2014-15 season, when Chelsea won the Premier League with Hazard playing a big role in their title win, the Belgian scored 14 goals while last term he only managed just four goals.
Meanwhile, Kante, who earns £100,000-a-week, has attempted 17 tackles winning five of them while he’s also made five interceptions this season.
