Former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has hit back at club legend Jamie Carragher, describing the pundit as a “bad player” and a “wonderful hater” after remarks made on social media.
Only a few days after joining Ligue 1 club Nice,Balotelli is back in the headlines after talking back to former Liverpool player and current pundit Carragher’s criticism of his move to France.
Balotelli departed Anfield on transfer deadline day for Nice on a free transfer, two years after moving to the Reds from AC Milan. The Italian scored once in the Premier League and spent last year on loan after another frustrating spell in the English game.
The Italian striker looks to resurrect his career at his new club, but Carragher didn’t hold back in the manner in which he suggested the team shouldn’t have taken a risk on a player with such a long history of poor discipline.
Balotelli on a free is still paying over the odds by Nice.

Indeed Balotelli spent more time in the press for the wrong reasons while on Merseyside and not too many fans were sad to see the back of the 26-year-old when his move to Ligue 1 was confirmed this week.
Carragher was seemingly one of them, tweeting that Nice had still paid too much for the forward, despite getting him on a free, indicating his own opinions on Balotelli’s ability and worth.
The pundit also described the striker as one of the most overrated players he’d ever seen in an interview with Soccer AM last month.

Balotelli waited a few days before making his response, so as to be sure his reply wouldn’t be seen as in the heat of the moment, before hitting back with strong words of his own.
Balotelli used Twitter himself to hit out at Carragher, calling the former Liverpool vice-captain a “wonderful hater” and also slamming the retired centre-back’s own technique.
Balotelli managed four goals in all competitions during his only season at Liverpool and Nice fans will be hoping the forward can revitalise his career this season.
