Rooney’s wife slams her husband’s critics

Wayne Rooney‘s wife Coleen has voiced her dissatisfaction with the criticism that the Manchester United and England captain has been receiving recently.

The 30-year-old has been heavily scrutinised for his performances for both club and country this year, and has been utilised as a substitute in United’s last two Premier League matches.

Rooney could make way for the returning Eric Dier for England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia on Tuesday, as Jordan Henderson was the stand out midfielder in the 2-0 win over Malta.

Coleen said on Twitter: “Love the way anyone and everyone has to have an opinion. Lighten up, life is short, given people a break. Some forget others have feelings too. Not a**** about money so you can stop the sarcasm… you know when it’s constantly on the news, which I don’t know why it still is, cause the press and fans should be positive about the TEAM going into the game tomorrow.

“And you have a six-year-old son listening to them saying they booed their dad, it’s not nice and money doesn’t enter my mind or his or anyone close to us! It’s feelings that matter. We’re not plastic, he’s not plastic.”

Rooney was booed at times by England fans at Wembley on Saturday while playing in a deep midfield role and he did little to influence the team’s offensive play, as talk about his best position drags on.

Therefore the under-pressure Man United star may have to settle for a substitute appearance in Ljubljana, with Dele Alli playing so well in an advanced central role and the perceived need for added protection to the back four, as England look to make it three wins from as many games in this qualifying campaign.
