Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is keen to see Italian giants AC Milan back where they belong, revealing the Rossoneri are his second-favourite team.
Milan are regarded as the third-most successful club in the world in terms of number of international titles, and have a great following across the world.
However, the Serie A side have gone through turmoil over the last few years and their days of regular appearances in European Cup finals have long gone.
Milan have finished eighth, tenth and seventh over the last three Serie A seasons and whilst they have performed slightly better so far this campaign, there still appears to be plenty of friction between the club and their fans.
Puyol, who spent his whole playing career with Spanish titans Barcelona, has revealed just how much he holds Milan in his heart.
“First Barcelona, as you like it or not,” Puyol told reporters at the ‘Golden Foot’ awards ceremony this week when talking about the clubs he loves the most.
“But I’ve always said, that Milan is the second team that I liked. I have always said publicly. It was a great club, although it is not now going through a good moment.”
Milan are currently sixth in Serie A, after their dramatic 4-3 win over Sassuolo prior to the international break.
