Buruj Academy fall to Young Strikers in friendly match

 

Lagos-based Buruj Sports Academy on Thursday played a friendly match with Young Strikers Football Club in a bid to prepare their players for the upcoming trip to the United Kingdom and the West African U-19 Football Tournament.
The match which was watched by the owner of the Young Strikers who is also SSA on sports to Lagos State Governor, Anthony Adeyinka saw Buruj being defeated 2-1.
After a goalless first half in the encounter, Buruj Sports Academy goalkeeper committed a foul resulting to a penalty that gave Young Strikers their first goal.
Shortly after, Buruj Sports Academy was awarded a penalty which would have earned the Ikorodu side an equalizer but it was lost by Dim Chinonso.
Young Strikers again struck to take a comfortable 2-0 lead therefore leaving Buruj Boys searching for at least a goal in the friendly match played at the Agege stadium in Lagos.

 

Shortly before the final whistle, Chinonso who had earlier on lost a penalty got an opportunity to score as the match ended 2-1.

 

Speaking after the match, Managing Director of Buruj Sports Academy, Waheed Salaudeen said it was a good experience for his boys who recently returned from the United Kingdom where they featured in some youth tournaments.

 

“It was a good experience for our players and I am sure that both the players and the coaches have learned from that. Next time we are out for another match, I am sure that our fans will see a better team”, Waheed Salaudeen said.
