Frank Lampard has emerged as a shock favourite to be the new manager of MK Dons.
Lampard, 38, announced his exit from MLS side New York City FC on Monday.
The former Chelsea midfielder has remained non-committal over his next move, refusing to confirm whether he will continue playing on.
However the 106-cap former England international is being tipped to replace Karl Robinson at Stadium:mk.
With bookmakers Ladbrokes, Lampard has dropped to 11-10 favourite for the role.
He is second favourites with two other firms, who make Steve Cotterill favourite.
Tottenham’s outgoing head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, is third favourite.
Ladbrokes News’ Richard Marsh said: “Plenty of names have been linked with the League One outfit, but just as he used to emerge undetected in opposition territory, Lampard has quietly appeared and beaten them all in the betting.”
MK Dons have been without a manager for almost three weeks, since Robinson left by mutual consent in late October.
