Manchester United have opened discussions with Atletico Madrid over a £60 million move to sign Antoine Griezmann in the summer.
According to the Sun, United have asked a leading agent to negotiate a deal on their behalf with Atletico for the French striker with the attacker expected to cost around the £60m mark.
The report adds that Jose Mourinho sees the Champions League forward as the perfect player to bring out the best in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.
Jose Mourinho has made signing a player for the No.10 role a priority as the Portuguese boss wants to bring creativity and a link between his midfield and attack.
Griezmann is seen as the perfect player by Mourinho to work with summer signings Pogba and Ibrahimovic with the former already talking to the 25-year-old about a switch to Old Trafford, the report claims.
Although Griezmann has a contract with Atletico until 2021 his relationship with the club has soured this season with the Spanish side struggling in La Liga.
After losing the Champions League final to city rivals Real twice in the last three years, Atletico look like a team which has peaked.
Pogba has discussed a move to England with his France team-mate.
Simeone is expected to leave for Inter Milan and Griezmann is also considering a new challenge.
Atletico will not sell to Spanish rivals Barcelona or Real while Griezmann prefers a move to United — which would signal the end for Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.
The striker is ready to take on a new challenge and is ready to move to the Premier League with United, the Sun reports.
