Conte reveals he’s looking forward to his first visit to Anfield

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he is looking forward to his first visit to Anfield.

Conte currently sits top of the Premier League and 10 points clear of fourth- placed Liverpool, who host the Blues in Merseyside tomorrow night.

The Italian manager lost his first Blues game against the Reds in the English top flight earlier this season as Jordan Henderson and Dejan Lovren scored in a 2-1 win for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

He now heads to Anfield knowing that a victory will certainly end any slim hopes the Reds have of winning the title, while also looking forward to experiencing the famous stadium.

“If you remember, after that game [last September], I said that Liverpool is already a team and Chelsea is not a team,” Conte said, as reported by the Guardian.

“After four months, a lot of things are changed in my team. We are growing a lot, improving a lot. We have a good confidence. I think that it will be more difficult for Liverpool if you compare the last game at Stamford Bridge with this game at Anfield.

“I’ve never been to Anfield, which is a pity because to play a game as a footballer there is exciting. The atmosphere is fantastic so, I repeat, we must pay great attention. I’m sure that Liverpool is one of the teams that can fight to the end to win the title.”

Since Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool in September, they lost to Arsenal the following week but then went on a 13-match winning run, setting a new club record.

They were then beaten by Tottenham but have won both games since then and even made easy work of the FA Cup with two comfortable wins against lower league opposition, while Liverpool have lost their last three games.
