Allegri speaks out over replacing Wenger as Arsenal manager

Massimilano Allegri has responded following speculation he could be set to take over the reins from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the summer.

Wenger is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the season, after 21 years in charge of the Gunners, and the iconic Frenchman is yet to agree to a new deal.

Reports suggest Juventus boss Allegri is already in advanced discussions to take over at Arsenal and the 49-year-old Italian has refused to rule out a move to north London.

‘I won’t deny or confirm anything,’ Allegri replied when asked about the speculation on Wednesday.

‘I am in sync with the club, now we have to focus on winning.

‘At this time of the season the media always says I’m leaving, even when things are going really well.’

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Thomas Tuchel and Eddie Howe are also believed to be on Arsenal’s shortlist should Wenger step down as manager at the end of the season.
