Victor Moses has vowed to help Chelsea win the Premier League this season after signing a new contract with the west London club on Wednesday.
The Nigeria international has been one of the Blues’ standout performers under new manager Antonio Conte this season and has helped the west London side build a 10-point lead at the top of the table.
Moses had previously failed to hold down a regular spot in the Chelsea first team in past seasons and was shipped out for a number of loan spells.
However, the winger has made the wing-back role his own this season since Conte opted to switch the Blues to a 3-4-3 formation.
Chelsea are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table as they bid to try and win the league in Conte’s first season at the club.
And Moses is determined to help the west London side lift the trophy this season after signing a new contract to keep him at the club until 2021.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Moses said: “I feel very excited. I’m delighted to be here for another few years now and to sign a new deal.
“Now it’s time to concentrate on the team and keep working hard to make sure we win games and try to win the Premier League this season.
“We’re having a great season, I’m enjoying my football and we have a good manager here that has given every single one of us confidence. I just want to keep on enjoying it and working hard for the team.”
CHELSEA have given Victor Moses a 60 per cent pay rise as a reward for his solid season at Stamford Bridge.
The Nigeria international has had to wait patiently to earn his chance at Chelsea.
Having signed for the club in 2012, the 26-year-old has been sent out on loan to the likes of Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham.
But under Antonio Conte, Moses has been handed his first-team opportunity and been a reliable figure.
Yesterday, Chelsea confirmed the right wing-back had penned a two-year contract extension, tying him down until 2021 in west London.
And according to The Times, Moses’ new deal sees him go from £45,000 a week up to £75,000 a week.
The £30,000 wage hike still doesn’t put him in the same bracket as Chelsea’s top earners, with midfielder Cesc Fabregas on £220,000 a week.
However, it does represent the club’s admiration of Moses’ efforts this term.
With no natural strong competition for a place, the winger has had little rest, having featured in all but one of Chelsea’s 26 Premier League matches.
But Conte has managed his fitness, making him play the full 90 minutes just six times.
Following his contract celebrations, Moses is expected to start against former club West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday (8pm).
