Henry admits he’s worried Tottenham will overtake Arsenal

Thierry Henry admits he’s worried that Tottenham will soon overtake Arsenal.

Spurs have never finished above the Gunners during Arsene Wenger’s reign, however they are currently second in the league, three points ahead of fifth place Arsenal.

North London legend Henry is impressed with what Mauricio Pochettino is doing at White Hart Lane and sees a lot coming together for them.

‘Their future looks bright. They have all their best players on long-term deals, which sends a good signal to potential
signings. The new stadium is coming on. They play good football,’ he wrote in his column for The Sun.

Henry believes they must start winning trophies to reflect their improvement, and highlighted the FA Cup – which Arsenal remain in also – as a realistic target.

‘To attract the best players, Spurs need to show they are winning things too.

‘The FA Cup this season would be a good start, having drawn Millwall in the quarters.’

There remains room for improvement at Spurs according to Henry – but they are closing in on Arsenal and the former striker is concerned.

‘Spurs are solid, a tight-knit unit with good togetherness and cohesion. But I would say the strength in depth is not there yet. They need about four more quality players.

‘If Harry Kane is not playing, they miss him badly. Heung-Min Son did well at the start of the season while Vincent Janssen has not quite been up to it.

‘They are not far off. That’s what worries me — Tottenham are finally getting it right.’
