Jose Mourinho admits he has “no idea” when Paul Pogba will return from injury.
That is yet another setback for Pogba’s recovery after Mourinho insisted Manchester United’s £89million midfielder has NOT returned to full training.
United boss Mourinho is clearly infuriated with Pogba – who has been out since September 12 when he pulled a hamstring against Basel – and stressed the team have done well without him.
France star Pogba has been doing rehabilitation in Miami and has since returned to the club’s Carrington training ground but Mourinho revealed that he is not working with the first team.
Mourinho said: “I have no idea. Honestly. I am not in control of his recovery process. He is not training with me. He is on individual work and when a player is on individual work I cannot predict.
“I would expect Marcos Rojo to return after the international break because he is training with me. But with Paul I have no idea.”
Then when asked how United had done in Pogba’s absence, Mourinho added: “We won every match except one. Two? Well, two, so not bad.”
Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho has appeared strained at times because of his fitness issues and suggestions that the player ignored medical advice on a long-standing hamstring problem. Pogba has also done a high level of commercial deals, including launching his own emoji.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has claimed United fans are within their rights to boo him after his decision to substitute Marcus Rashford for Anthony Martial was jeered.
Mourinho added: “They pay the ticket they can do what they want. They can boo a player that doesn’t deserve to be booed, they can boo a player who is working like an animal, even though the game is not going in his direction.
“They can boo – they pay their tickets, they can boo the manager.”
