Sampdoria have accepted a £26.5m offer from Arsenal for midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to Daily Mail.
The two clubs have held productive talks for the 22-year-old, who is with Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia.
The Italian club are willing to accept the offer, which is above the player’s release clause but with payment proposed to be spread over a number of years.
Massimo Ferrero, the Sampdoria president said: ‘Lucas Torreira has a release clause.
‘Everyone knows it. Whoever wants to take Torreira will have to work with that release clause; €25m.’
Arsenal have already signed Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free and have agreed a deal worth around £16m with Borussia Dortmund for Sokratis Papastathopoulos which is expected to be confirmed next month.
They also have an interest in Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins and have discussed a potential bid for Caglar Soyuncu at Freiburg.
