Trainer David Barron admits that it is risky racing Kynren so soon after his last outing but feels a return to Ascot is worth it. The five-year-old was last seen at the Berkshire venue on October 5 when beating 16 rivals to land the bet365 Challenge Cup. It was thought that might be it for the son of Clodovil but he is back in action this weekend in the Balmoral Handicap. It was the gelding’s first win since September 2017 and Barron believes that a quick turnaround is fine as Kynren will be wrapped in cotton wool of the winter at the conclusion of the contest. “Obviously he likes the course, he likes the ground, and it seems he has a decent draw,” he said. “The negative is we’re coming at it fairly quickly. “It’s only two weeks since he won down there, and we have gone quicker than I would have liked ideally, but it will be his last run of the year – so we’re taking our chance.”
