Hastings proud to represent GB

Jackson Hastings says pride is his main emotion as he prepares to represent Great Britain in their upcoming tour of New Zealand. The Super League Man of Steel helped guide Salford to their first-ever Grand Final, where they went down 23-6 to St Helens earlier this month. He was in superb form all season and earned a call up to the reformed Greta Britain squad for their games with New Zealand, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea in November. Hastings, along with Warrington’s Blake Austin and St Helens’ Lachlan Coote, has been given a call up to the squad despite being born in Australia which has divided some onlookers. However, the half-back insists he is ready to give his all for the Great Britain cause. “Yeah, I obviously understand what people think,” Hastings told the 5 Live rugby league podcast. “And who they want to represent this shirt. “But I’ve said before, I don’t make the rules. I qualify, I put my hand up and it was out of my hands if I got selected. But I’m selected now and I’m truly honoured to be a part of this group of players. “It’s obviously an elite group, an illustrious group and a very special opportunity to do something that could only come around once in a lifetime. “I’m very proud and privileged to be here. Who knows if I’m going to play or not? I’m just really honoured to be here.”
