Bayern hit by another huge injury blow

Bayern Munich have been hit by yet another serious injury blow after Lucas Hernandez limped off against Olympiacos. The Bavarians have just lost Niklas Sule for the rest of the season after he ruptured his ACL, and now it looks as though record-signing Hernandez is also facing a spell out.
Bayern picked up a hard-fought 3-2 victory in Greece, but the three points came at a cost as Hernandez was forced from the field just before the hour mark.
The full extent of the damage has yet to be revealed, but Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic admits it does not look good. “He will be out for a long time. Several weeks,” Salihamidzic told Sport1 following the match against Olympiacos.
Hernandez was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and Bayern head coach Niko Kovac also gave an update to the press. “Hernandez has problems with his ankle. We have to see whether the ligament was also affected,” he said. “He has severe pain on the inside of his ankle; that’s why we had to take him out. It’s very frustrating.”
Just to make matters even worse, Javi Martinez, who has been ravaged by injuries, was also substituted at half-time due to a muscle complaint. “Martinez had a muscular problem in the first half, we didn’t want to take any risks, so we reacted,” Kovac added.
Robert Lewandowski was the hero for Bayern with two goals, while Corentin Tolisso got the other, as they remain top of Group B with three wins from three, five points ahead of Tottenham.
