Burnley captain Ben Mee hopes his side can continue their positive start to the season when they take on Chelsea at Turf Moor on Saturday. The Clarets were being tipped for a season of struggle at the start of the campaign, but they comfortably sit in the top half of the Premier League standings after taking 12 points from their opening nine games, with their only defeats coming against Leicester, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Next up for Sean Dyche’s side is a home clash with Chelsea, a team they have not beaten on their own patch since 1983, although they did claim an impressive 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge just two seasons ago and punters may to choose to use their free bet to back the Lancashire outfit to claim all three points this weekend.
Indeed, a victory for Burnley on Saturday would see them move to within two points of the Blues, who currently occupy fourth place, and central defender Mee is keen for the Clarets to continue on their upward trajectory. “We’ve started the season well and we’ve something to build on,” Mee told reporters ahead of the game. “Hopefully like last year, we can get stronger and stronger and be in a really positive position.”
However, Mee is under no illusions just how tough it will be for his side to beat Chelsea, who have won six matches on the spin across all competitions, with Frank Lampard’s young squad having seemingly found their feat following a tricky start to the season. “They’re on a real good run,” the 30-year-old added. “They’ve got some good, young talent mixed with a few older heads and it’s certainly a real good blend.”
