Lampard growing in confidence

Chelsea’s recent run of six wins has given Frank Lampard plenty of encouragement ahead of Saturday evening’s trip to Burnley. Blues icon and record-scorer Lampard took charge in the summer after just one year in management where he guided Derby to the Championship play-off final.
A mixed start, including a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United on the opening weekend, prompted doubts over his suitability to the role but things are starting to come together.
Chelsea’s transfer ban means the 41-year-old has had to put his faith in youth and that belief has been rewarded with Premier League wins over Brighton, Southampton and Newcastle, an EFL success against Grimsby and Champions League victories at both Lille and Ajax.
Sat fourth heading into the weekend, a victory at Burnley on Saturday would further cement their position in the top four but the Lancashire outfit are never a team who give visitors an easy game.
The Clarets sit eighth on the back of last weekend’s 2-1 reverse at Leicester, a result that ended a run of four Premier League matches unbeaten.
Sean Dyche has again got his side organised and they are always dangerous in front of their vociferous home supporters at Turf Moor.
While things are certainly going Chelsea’s way, Lampard is refusing to lose focus ahead of Saturday’s match. “They never give an easy game against opponents and I expect no different tomorrow,” he said. “He adds that we respect all our opponents and will focus fully on the threats they can pose. “I thought we could have picked up more points in the early part of the season but I’ve been pleased with the last six games.”
Chelsea are back in EFL Cup action on Wednesday when they have a chance to get revenge on Manchester United before a trip to Watford a week on Saturday.
