Gildart ruled out of GB tour

Oliver Gildart will not play in the rest of Great Britain’s’ tour of New Zealand due to a dislocated shoulder. The Wigan man was withdrawn after their brutal 14-6 loss to Tonga on Saturday morning and ended up in a sling. Scans revealed the extent of the injury and he will now fly back home and miss their three remaining games. The 23-year-old had been outstanding for Wigan in the regular Super League season and was part of the first Great Britain tour for 13 years. Team mate Zak Hardaker says it is a big blow for the Lions. “I’m really gutted for him,” he said. “I thought he was one of our best players yesterday. His carries were really good and he was very solid in defence.” St Helens’ Luke Thompson is also a doubt for the rest of the tour after leaving the field with a rib injury early on in the Tonga game. Great Britain play two Tests against New Zealand in Auckland and Christchurch before playing Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.
