Bundesliga title race shaping up to be a cracker

Bayern Munich have dominated the Bundesliga in recent history, but this season it is shaping up to be the most open race in a long time. The Bavarians were pushed all the way by Borussia Dortmund last season, but eventually came out on top to claim their seventh title in a row under the leadership of Niko Kovac.
However Kovac’s men have struggled to dominate so far this season and it looks as though Dortmund may not be the only club to challenge them for the title over the remainder of the campaign.
Here are the contenders for the Bundesliga title.
Bayern Munich. Still without doubt the ones to beat and the cream has risen to the top over the last seven years.
The huge plus point for Bayern is the fact that Robert Lewandowski appears to be getting even better with age, continuing to score goals for fun. He has 13 already this season and Bayern will be tough to stop if he carries on.
Philippe Coutinho has been receiving some criticism of late, but is still a world-class player nonetheless and will play a huge role in Bayern’s push for honours. Injuries could be an issue for Bayern though, particularly in defence. Niklas Sule has already been ruled out for the season, while record signing Lucas Hernandez is also facing a spell out.
Borussia Dortmund. Dominated under Jurgen Klopp before Bayern took control, and are always seen as the main challengers to Bayern.
BVB made some excellent additions in the summer in the form of Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard, Nico Schulz and Mats Hummels, to add to the quality they already have.
Suffered a shock defeat to Union Berlin and have drawn four out of the last five games. Despite this, they still sit fifth in the standings and only three points behind tabletoppers Borussia Monchengladbach.
RB Leipzig. Like Dortmund, tipped by many to wrestle the Bundesliga crown away from Bayern, but have also struggled for consistency, winning just one in five to leave them in sixth. Still time to turn things around and do have one of the most highly-rated young coach in Julian Nagelsmann.
The former Hoffenheim coach is building a reputation as one of the best tacticians around and has a very athletic squad to help him carry out his plans.
It will probably come down to being a three-horse race, but other teams have started well and look set to make things interesting.
Gladbach went back to the top of the table with a win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, while Freiburg and Wolfsburg have pushed themselves into the top four places.
It is ridiculously tight as just below Dortmund in 5th, Leipzig, Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen are all on 15 points, just four off the top and ready to mount a push if they can string results together.
