Christian Kabasele has told his team-mates they can “leave now” if they don’t believe Watford can survive in the Premier League this season. Kabasele’s overall message following the Hornets’ 0-0 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday was positive, but he did not mince his words when speaking about the state of the belief within the squad.
The draw at Vicarage Road leaves Watford still searching for their first win of the campaign and rooted to the bottom of the table.
On Saturday, Watford became the first team to fail to win any of their opening 10 games in a Premier League season on two occasions, having previously started as badly in 2006-07.
Aidy Boothroyd’s side went on to be relegated with just 28 points that year, but had one point more than the current side after 10 games of the campaign – which will be worrying for everyone associated with the club.

And the Belgian defender thinks a string of important fixtures against some fellow relegation candidates that Watford have coming up presents a great chance to turn things around.
He added: “We have the most important period in front of us with a lot of direct opponents for relegation, so we need to believe in ourself and try to do everything possible to give this last position to another team.”
Following Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Everton at Goodison Park, Watford host Chelsea in the Premier League.
But Kabasele is probably looking a little further on down the fixture list at November’s clashes with Watford, Burnley and Southampton.
Already, it looks like Quique Sanchez Flores’ side are going to need to win two of those three games to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the dreaded drop.
