Chelsea trio among top ten Premier League loan stars in Championship

Chelsea’s policy of loaning young talents to Championship clubs paid dividends last term and they have three more in the top ten such performers this season. 10. Matt Miazga (Reading – loan from Chelsea)
The USA international is at his third different loan club now, but has been holding the Reading defence together at times and recently smashed in their 98th-minute winner against Preston with a powerful volley.
9. Eddie Nketiah (Leeds – loan from Arsenal)
Will he – won’t he – start him? Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa likes Nketiah as an impact substitute and the young Gunner has scored three crucial goals so far, including the winner against Brentford.
8. Freddie Woodman (Swansea – loan from Newcastle)
Still yet to play for Newcastle, the 22-year-old is enjoying by far the most successful of his five loan spells as Swansea eye up an automatic spot. And six clean sheets in 14 starts is a very healthy return.
7. Anthony Knockaert (Fulham – loan from Brighton)
To get the Championship Player of the Year from 2016-17 in was great business by Fulham, he’s scored two and set up two so far, but his experience of two promotions from this division will be invaluable.
6. Izzy Brown (Luton Town – loan from Chelsea)
It was always going to be a make-or-break campaign for Brown after his injury struggles at Leeds last season, so to hit the ground running with five assists in four starts and a few sub appearances is a great return at a club expected to battle the drop.
5. Conor Gallagher (Charlton – loan from Chelsea)
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer thinks Gallagher could play for Chelsea now and five goals and an assist in his first 14 appearances has put promoted Charlton in a position to think about the play-offs.
4. Nahki Wells (QPR – loan from Burnley)
The Bermudan striker is playing like he’s got a point to prove at surprise package QPR and has hit seven goals already – as many as he bagged in a full season for the Rs last term.
3. Grady Diangana (West Brom – loan from West Ham)
Slaven Bilic knew what he was doing in getting Diangana in for his first-ever loan spell away from West Ham. He’s bagged four goals and added three assists so far.
2. Ben White (Leeds – loan from Brighton)
The best centre-back in the Championship according to whoscored.com and those who have seen him glide through his first 14 Championship games think he’s destined for the Premier League and England honours.
1. Ivan Cavaleiro (Fulham – loan from Wolves)
The Portugal international won’t be recalled by Wolves in January as Fulham have an option to buy, which they will certainly take if he continues his current form and helps them back up. Four goals and four assists in 13 starts so far for the ex-Monaco and Benfica man.
