Fury stokes up Wilder rivalry

Tyson Fury has had a pop at heavyweight rival Deontay Wilder, saying the American is a “loud mouth” and has “no substance”. Fury and WBC world heavyweight champion Wilder went head-to-head in December and the bout ended in a controversial draw, with the British star appearing to get the better of his rival. The duo are set for a rematch on February 22 and the ‘Gypsy King’ has already started the mind games ahead of the bout, saying his opponent is not even liked by people from his homeland. “He screams ‘bomb squad’ a lot and pretends to have a personality, but really he doesn’t and there is no depth to him,” he was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. “I have already got more American fans than Wilder. For whatever reason, Wilder is not popular in America and people don’t like him. “He has got no substance. He is a loud mouth. Behind that there is no intellect. He comes out with random things that don’t make sense. I am a trash talker, but sometimes I struggle to put together what he is talking about.” Before the 2020 fight, Wilder faces 40-year-old Cuban Luis Ortiz on November 23 in his 10th defence of the WBC title, while Fury has taken a brief venture over to wrestling and will face Braun Strowman at the WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
