Farke admits Krul worries as keeper faces anxious wait over knee pain

Daniel Farke is concerned over the fitness of goalkeeper Tim Krul after City’s penalty hero complained of knee pain after Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United. Krul, who became the first Premier League goalkeeper to save two penalties in one game for over three years, felt some pain his the right knee – the same one that was operated on four years ago.
Back in 2015, Krul sustained an ACL injury while playing for the Netherlands against Kazakhstan, which remains his final match at international level.
The injury forced him to miss 13 months of football and it is only since he has been at Norwich City that he has recovered the reputation he had before the extended time on the sidelines.
Canaries boss Daiel Farke appears to share the keeper’s concerns as he admitted after the match that they will have to wait for a full medial assessment of the injury. “Tim is great – great character, great leader and a big personality, but he has over-stretched his knee,” said the German. “We have to wait for the assessment on Monday. I hope it is not too bad. He was concerned because it was the same knee he had the ACL damage earlier in his career. “I am not sure when it happened. He was panicking a bit because he has this ACL experience. I can’t confirm which situation it was, whether it was the dive for the third goal. It looks a bit better after the game than during but it is too early. The first impression is that it might just be an over-stretch.”
Krul wasn’t the last of City’s worries as the match at Carrow Road wound down to its conclusion with central defender Ibrahim Amadou sustaining a knock to his knee and winger Emiliano Buendia suffering a gashed shin.
Farke also revealed the reason for Jamal Lewis’ substitution was a suspected virus that left him feeling “unbelievably poorly”.
