Real Madrid are preparing to offer Isco as well as cash in a bid to snare Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz in January. Los Blancos are currently sixth in La Liga after an underwhelming start to the season, although do have a game in hand after their Clasico fixture against Barcelona was postponed for political reasons.
Zinedine Zidane spent big in the summer to try and give them more of a chance of catching Barca in the league following their third-place finish last season.
However, it has not exactly been a smooth ride so far this term with players still failing to perform at their maximum level.
Eden Hazard joined from Chelsea for a fee eclipsing the £100million barrier but has not been fit for much of the season, while Luka Jovic has failed to score since making the move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
Now, Madrid are keen to spend further money to solve their midfield problem, with Zidane desperate to bolster that area of the park.

Reports suggest they have identified Partenopei midfielder and Spain international as a potential target in January.
The 23-year-old has seen his stock rise massively over the past year with some stellar performance for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
He scored seven goals in 40 games for them last season as they finished second in Serie A, 11 points adrift of Juventus.
Fresh reports suggest Real would be willing to pay €20m plus out-of-favour playmaker Isco to bring Ruiz to the Bernebeu.
However, that offer is likely to be rejected as Napoli want at least €100m for Ruiz.
Isco is another Real payer in a state of flux having seen his game time rapidly decrease in recent times, though he has had injury troubles.
He has only played four times in all competition this season and could seek a move to make sure he gets in the Spain squad for Euro 2020.
