Djokovic survives Edmund scare in Paris

World number one Novak Djokovic is through to the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after a straight-sets win over Kyle Edmund. Edmund went into the tournament in the French capital on the back of an eight-match losing run but managed to find some form in Paris, seeing off Ricardas Berankis and Diego Schwartzman to set up a meeting with Djokovic. There was little to separate the two players in the first set as neither managed to force a break of serve and Djokovic saved two set points in the 12th game on his serve before winning the tie break 9-7. The Serbian star dominated the second set and broke Edmund’s serve to wrap up a 7-6(9-7) 6-1 win in one hour and 23 minutes. Djokovic will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last eight after the Greek world number seven overcame Alex de Minaur 6-3 6-4 earlier on Thursday.
