Coney Island close to comeback

Trainer Eddie Harty has confirmed that Coney Island is set to make a comeback later this month with the destination yet to be decided. The eight-year-old Grade One-winning chaser finished third at Navan when returning over hurdles 12 months ago and then took seventh in the Grade One outing at Leopardstown at Christmas. Coney Island was then sixth in the Ryanair at the Cheltenham Festival, with his most recent outing an eighth-place finish in the Galway Plate at the end of July. Harty is now looking to this new season and plotting a return but he is still pondering a suitable race. “Coney Island is back in training now – he’s in good form,” he said. “We’re keeping our options open. We were pleased with him in the Galway Plate – that was a good run. “We’re delighted with him so far, but we’re still waiting to make plans. “I’d say he’ll be ready for a run at the end of November – but nothing’s set in stone, and we’ve no long-term plans. Everything’s fluid.”
