Romeu ready for Everton test

Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu says his team can stop their winless run when they welcome Everton to St Mary’s. Romeu and the rest of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops go into the meeting in the bottom three, with Southampton now without a win since the middle of September.
They beat Sheffield United 1-0 away from home, but the two clubs have since enjoyed mixed fortunes. The Blades are now into the top six, while the Saints are three points adrift of safety.
Hasenhuttl’s side have lost five of their last six matches in the league, but Romeu is not panicking ahead of this weekend’s battle.
Like Southampton, Everton have also struggled, and they sit just one place above Southampton.
Everton have only won one of their last seven matches in the top flight, and Romeu says his team can take confidence from their narrow defeat to Manchester City last time out.
He told the Daily Echo: “It’s going to be crucial. It’s going to be massive. “We’ve put ourselves in a situation now where we must win against Everton, and that’s the key to giving us a good situation afterwards. Everton aren’t doing very well, and if we can put them under pressure early one, then we can have a good game. “I think we’ve seen that if we defend the way we did against Manchester City it will be hard to concede chances. “There are many games coming and very important ones.”
The south coast club were left red-faced in their last match on home soil as they lost 9-0 to top-four hopefuls Leicester City. In fact, Saints fans have not seen a home win in the league since April, when they beat Wolves to help their fight against relegation.
After the meeting with Everton, they then face relegation rivals Watford and Norwich City.
