Inter scalp to hand Dortmund boost

Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke feels Borussia Dortmund will be full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bayern Munich after beating Inter. BVB ran out 3-2 victors over the Serie A giants on Tuesday night in a thrilling encounter between two attacking sides.
Dortmund were staring down the barrel after going 2-0 down to the Nerazzurri but in the end a goal from Julian Brandt and a brace from Achraf Hakimi saw the hosts make a remarkable comeback to move to second place in the Champions League Group F behind Barcelona.
Watzke was delighted with the result and now feels confidence in the camp will be sky high ahead of the clash with old rivals Bayern this weekend.
He told the club’s official website: “At the moment when we levelled the score at 2-2, I had the feeling we would win the match. The team had already created a relatively large number of chances in the first period and produced a good performance all in all. “The second half was outstanding. It was the kind of football evening that people love. It will give us momentum for Saturday. We’re ready for the Clasico.”
Dortmund can now look forward to the trip to the Allianz Arena to face a Bayern side that are currently without a permanent manager following the sacking of Niko Kovac.
Bayern are searching for a new boss, with the likes of Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger being linked with the position at the Bavarian giants.
