Redmond confident of reproducing his best at Southampton

Southampton winger Nathan Redmond believes he is close to recapturing his best form after an injury-plagued start to the season. Redmond found his rhythm last season under Ralph Hasenhuttl and won several personal accolades.
He ended the 2018/19 campaign as Southampton’s top scorer, with nine goals, as he helped them avoid relegation to the Championship.
The England international had then hoped to follow on this season but injuries have derailed his progress.
The Birmingham-born ace injured his ankle against Fulham in the Carabao Cup in August. He has managed to play in nine of Southampton’s 11 league games but concedes the setback has affected his confidence.
Southampton have not won since the middle of September in the league although Redmond is confident he will soon find his feet again.

He told the Daily Echo: “It’s been tough. I got hit with a little ankle injury that kept me out for a month and I’m just slowly coming back from that I think. “I’ve been hit with so many different circumstances within it so, for me, the minimum requirement is to work hard for the team first and foremost. “It’s probably been a bit slow to what I expected coming off the back of last season but I have every confidence in myself and abilities to help the team. But at the end of the day, it’s something that happened and I’m slowly coming back to where I was.”
Redmond will get the chance to improve Southampton’s fortunes when his team face Everton on Saturday afternoon.
Hasenhuttl’s men remain in the bottom three and they are three points behind 17th-placed Everton.
The Toffees have a superior goal difference and that should mean the Saints remain in the relegation zone even if they win this weekend.
