Wilder staying grounded despite Blades’ form

Chris Wilder says no-one at Sheffield United is getting carried away with the Blades’ impressive first three months back in the Premier League. Wilder’s side have taken the top flight by storm and sit sixth in the table after 11 games. The Blades have won four, drawn four and lost just three times to dispel fears they would struggle to cope back amongst the elite.
Many people were predicting the Yorkshire club would be relegation candidates this season but, so far, they look capable of finishing in the top half and have taken points from tough games at Chelsea and West Ham, while victories over Everton at Goodison Park and Arsenal at home have particularly stood out.
Last weekend they claimed another important win, seeing off Burnley 3-0, and on Saturday, the South Yorkshire side go to Tottenham. They will again be underdogs but Wilder is looking forward to the clash as they prepare to take on last season’s Champions League runners-up.
The United boss is relishing taking on the big boys but admits his side will need another massive performance to get anything from the game.
Wilder said in his press conference: “(It’s) another great afternoon for us to go and pit our wits, from the player’s point of view, against top class individuals. We’re going to have to play really well to get a result.”
Despite their great start, Wilder knows there is still a long campaign ahead and has made it clear no-one at Bramall Lane is getting ahead of themselves as winter begins to kick in.
He added: “We talked about at the start of the season just attacking the next game. I’m not getting carried away and that changing room won’t.”
Following the trip to Spurs, there is another international break before the Blades resume Premier League campaign with a huge home game against Manchester United on November 24.
