Grosjean struggling to find season-ending motivation

Romain Grosjean says all of Haas’ issues this season have left him short of motivation heading into the final two races of the 2019 campaign. The American team failed to register a single point in their home grand prix in Austin last weekend, the 14th time this season they have missed out on a top-10 finish. Having entered the campaign with aspirations of finishing best of the rest in Formula 1 behind Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari, only Williams are below them in the Constructors’ Championship heading into the races in Brazil and the UAE. Hass says the focus has already turned to making sure the 2020 season is a much better one, with the VF-19 proving to have been a problematic machine. Ahead of two more races in the unreliable Haas, the French driver has revealed that he’s lost his get up and go as a result of their ongoing issues. “I’m keeping it [up] but as I say it’s hard,” said Grosjean told RaceFans. “We are all racers, we are all competitors, we all want to do the best. And you can feel in the team that it’s just hard. “It’s never good when you count down the races to the end of the year. There’s a certain amount you can do but we’re human beings, we’ve got feelings, we want to be competitive. “You hear Mercedes on Friday in Mexico saying it’s going to be a difficult weekend, it’s going to be terrible and so on. At the end they win and they’ve won by Friday. We’ve had three days difficult for a long time.”
