Flores hoping Canaries win is a springboard for Watford

Quique Sanchez Flores wants Watford’s first win of the season to inspire his players for future performances. Watford became the last team in the top four divisions of English football to secure their maiden league victory of the season and moved off the bottom table with their 2-0 triumph at Norwich on Friday night.
Gerard Deulofeu scored inside the first two minutes to give the Hornets a dream start before first-half substitute Andre Gray doubled his side’s lead in the second period with a well-executed backheeled flick.
Defender Christian Kabasele was dismissed with 25 minutes remaining but Watford held on for a much-needed win at Carrow Road.
Flores said his players are trying to believe in themselves, but added that it is difficult when they are not picking up victories.
But now they have finally broken their duck for the season, the Spanish tactician is looking for them to go on a run with a couple of winnable fixtures coming up in November.
He said: “I hope these kind of results can help the players to realise they are much better. All of the things that we repeat for them every week. “They can play much better, they are much better, they can fight more, they can do more, and finally we will probably win more matches.”
Despite moving above Norwich and also Southampton on goal difference, Watford still remain in the relegation places on eight points.
Everton and Aston Villa sit above them with three more points on the board and both could stretch that lead if they win at second-bottom Southampton and Wolves respectively this weekend.
Watford’s next game is against Burnley at Vicarage Road after the international break on November 23, before a huge clash against fellow strugglers Southampton at St Mary’s at the end of the month.
