Lyon could have a battle on their hands to keep winger Memphis Depay with Tottenham Hotspur thought to be interested in the attacker. Having endured an unsuccessful spell at Manchester United between 2015 and 2017, Depay could be on his way back to the Premier League if reports in the British press are to believed.
The Netherlands international is currently out of action with a groin injury and was unable to prevent his side suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Marseille on Sunday, which saw Lyon drop down to 14th place in the Ligue 1 standings.
Depay has done enough over the past couple of seasons to attract interest from the Premier League and a return to England could be on the cards with Spurs connected to the former PSV Eindhoven star.
Reports have suggested Tottenham would have to splash £50m if they were to secure the winger’s services, with north London outfit potentially making a move in the January transfer window.
The talented 25-year-old has managed to score 50 goals in 130 games since his move to Lyon back in 2016 and it’s no surprise Spurs are keeping tabs on the player’s situation across the Channel.
Tottenham have been struggling for goals this season and pressure has been mounting on manager Mauricio Pochettino to turn things around.
Spurs are likely to strengthen in January and reports in the Daily Mirror suggest Depay is currently the Lilywhites’ top target in the new year.
