Rose plans Spurs exit in 18 months

Danny Rose says he will leave Tottenham when his contract expires in 18 months but insists he is going nowhere until then. England left-back Rose was expected to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the summer after he was left out their squad for the pre-season tour of Asia to “explore prospective opportunities with other clubs”.
However, no move materialised and Rose has been a regular feature for Spurs so far this season, making 11 appearances across all competitions and has been preferred to fellow left-back Ben Davies in the Premier League.
Rose has now revealed that it was never his intention to leave the club during the summer and insists he has no plans to go anywhere until his contract expires at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
He told the Evening Standard: “I’ve said I’ve got 18 months left on my contract and I’m not going anywhere until my contract has finished. “Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on. “My contract is up in 18 months’ time and I’ll leave the football club then. People can save their time trying to get stuff ready for January about me being sold because I can tell you now. It isn’t happening.”
Rose is one of a number of players that look set to run down their contracts at Spurs, with Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld’s deals all set to expire this summer.
The uncertainty surrounding the future of those players has seemingly contributed to Spurs’ struggles this season. They currently sit 14th in the standings, just six points clear of the relegation zone and a whopping 11 off the top four.
That poor form has also led to speculation regarding the future of boss Mauricio Pochettino but Rose remains fully behind the Argentine and insists he has never had any problems with him. “I’m lucky to have a manager at Tottenham who, from the first day we met, has always stuck by me, regardless of the rubbish in the media about me being sold or not part of his plans – all that nonsense,” Rose confirmed.
