David Silva intends to return to Spain next year to play, despite reports Galatasaray are ready to offer the veteran midfielder a huge salary. The Turkish media claimed earlier this week that Gala are willing to pay the 33-year-old schemer one last big pay day – worth £200,000-per-week after tax.
Silva is leaving at the end of this season after a decade of service at the Etihad, believing it is the right time to bring down the curtain on his massively successful time in Manchester.
It’s understood the former Spain international has received a couple of interesting proposals, one which is believed to have come from Japan, to play his football next term.
Silva wants to carry on for a couple more years and has previously spoken of his desire to end his career at his hometown club, Las Palmas.
City sources state the Spaniard is still considering his options but a return to his homeland remains the favoured option, especially now with a young family to consider.
City’s all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has tried to get Silva to reconsider walking away – at least until his own contract runs out in the summer of 2021.
Silva already collects a salary of £10million-per-year at City, so money at this stage of his career isn’t his number one priority.
He joined City from Valencia for £26m in 2010 and has gone on to win four Premier League titles, four League Cups, and two FA Cups, with valid claims to be considered the Citizens’ greatest-ever player – certainly in the modern era.
And such is his quiet demeanour and outstanding technical ability on the ball, a recent nationwide fan poll had Silva sat alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as the greatest foreign import the Premier League has seen.
