Hobbs turns his attention to Sandown

Trainer Philip Hobbs has confirmed Defi Du Seuil is on target for the Tingle Creek at Sandown next month after his win at Cheltenham. The six-year-old won at Prestbury Park for the sixth time as he fended off three rivals to win the Shloer Chase on Sunday afternoon. Jockey Barry Geraghty enjoyed a famous win on his return from injury as Defi Du Seuil proved too strong for Politologue, Saint Calvados and Simply Ned. Geraghty allowed Politologue to do the majority of the running before kicking for home after the second-last fence. The 11/8 favourite then powered up the hill to win by a length and a quarter, and Hobbs has revealed the team will now head to Sandown. He said: “It was never going to be ideal when the pace is that slow, so I’m delighted he’s won. He obviously stays very well, but he has loads of pace. “We’ll take it race by race, but I’d imagine he will go the Tingle Creek. “Sandown is stiffer than here, so it will probably suit him.”
