Mikel Arteta expects Jose Mourinho to deliver success to Tottenham.
Mourinho’s Spurs have won only twice in 11 games ahead of the North London derby on Sunday.
But Arsenal boss Arteta said: ‘They have had some ups and downs but overall you can clearly see what he wants to bring to the club.
‘He manages the energy, the momentum and establishes a really strong culture in every football club. As well, he makes sure that he wins, and he’s won in every single club that he’s been at.
‘Obviously the situation and the timing when he arrived is different than starting a new project right from the summer, but I’m sure he will be successful because he always finds the right way to do it. It will take him a bit of time but I’m sure he will do it.’
Arteta will experience his first North London derby since his return to Arsenal as manager.
‘It’s such a special occasion,’ he said. ‘Rivalry in football, when you take it in a positive way, brings energy, brings passion and brings a city together. It is such a beautiful thing.
‘We are privileged to have big teams in the city and it is a shame we don’t have the fans to enjoy it with us. It’s going to be a strange derby.’
Arsenal, despite coming out of the lockdown with two defeats, have moved a point ahead of local rivals Tottenham with a run of 10 points from four Premier League games.
Spurs, without a trophy in more than 12 years, have lost ground in the race for the European places.
They will be desperate to end a dismal campaign but Arteta insists Mourinho can bring the good times back to White Hart Lane.
‘Absolutely, that’s probably one of the reasons that they have brought Jose in,’ said the Arsenal boss. ‘Because of his experience in dealing with those situations and having that extra edge to become a winning team.’
