Laurent Blanc could become Barcelona’s interim manager while the club waits for first choice Xavi, according to reports.
Current boss Quique Setien could be shown the door after their rivals Real Madrid beat them to the LaLiga title.
If Setien is unable to redeem The Catalan’s flagging season by winning the Champions League, Barca will look to bring in a top-level coach who would accept the job on a one-season basis.
Though Xavi would be the club’s first choice to replace Setien in the long-term, they will have to wait another year for him to take over at the Nou Camp as he has signed a new contract at Al-Sadd.
The 40-year-old has signed a new contract with the Qatari side for the 2020-21 season, forcing Barca to look elsewhere for next season.
Blanc is allegedly willing to take-over as interim manager as the Frenchman believes he can succeed and earn the right to stay, according to Sport.
Barca star Lionel Messi has made it clear there is a need for change among the management.
Following Barca miserable home defeat to Osasuna on Thursday evening, the captain said: ‘Since January, everything has gone very badly.’
In a nod towards under-pressure manager Setien, Messi added: ‘We are going to have to change a lot if we want to do something…’
Setien, the former coach of Real Betis, was only appointed on January 13 following the dismissal of Ernesto Valverde.
Since taking over the rein he has seen Barca slip from the top of the LaLiga table after defeats to Valencia, Real Madrid and then Osasuna.
The Catalan’s also dropped points in draws against Sevilla, Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid to allow Real to overtake them.
