Fulham ‘make sensational move for Pique’ as Koeman plans squad overhaul

Fulham have reportedly made a stunning move for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

The centre-half was distraught after the Spanish giants were thrashed 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Afterwards the 33-year-old admitted that the team have hit ‘rock bottom’, before offering to leave the club should they wanted to carry out a substantial rebuilding job.

Quique Setien was sacked following the humiliating defeat and replaced by former Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

And according to Peruvian website Libero, Fulham have decided to make move for Pique, who came through the youth ranks of Manchester United before leaving for Barcelona in 2008.

Now, at the age of 33, the £220,000-a-week defender could be ready for a return to the Premier League and a move to the UK’s capital.

Libero reports that there is ‘an offer on the table’ from Scott Parker’s Premier League new-boys.
