Aston Villa assistant coach John Terry is backing Thiago Silva for success with Chelsea.
Silva has bid an emotional goodbye to PSG fans ahead of an expected move to Chelsea – and Blues legend Terry was unable to contain his delight about the prospect of the Brazilian joining.
The 35-year-old will undergo a medical with Chelsea on Thursday and he has paid tribute to PSG fans in a farewell message.
And former Chelsea captain Terry appeared to react to the post with jubilation as he replied with two emojis of a pair of eyes and a blue heart.
Silva wrote: “The value of things is not in the time they last, but in the intensity with which they occur. For this reason, there are unforgettable moments, inexplicable things and incomparable people. “Today a cycle ends, after eight years in the @PSG team, I would like to thank my team-mates, all the technical team and the management, the fans, my family, God and my friends, for all these happy moments that we lived in the City of Light.
“Here, with my wife @bellesilva, we have lived unforgettable moments, our children have grown up, we have become French citizens, and we will forever carry these years lived and France in our hearts. Thank you so much.”
But some fans spotted Terry’s reply to the post, with the Aston Villa assistant manager clearly excited by the prospect of the centre back lining up under Frank Lampard next season.
Terry was a stalwart in the same position at Stamford Bridge having spent nearly his entire career in west London – playing 717 times and winning five Premier League trophies.
Silva is believed to be seeking a new chapter despite his manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly desperate to keep him at the club. The Brazilian is thought to have fallen out with sporting director Leonardo and is determined to quit the Parc des Princes.
He is set to become Chelsea’s fourth arrival of the summer already after the club confirmed Leicester left back Ben Chilwell on a £50million five year deal on Wednesday.
